EXPERIENCE
Travis Martin is a Detroit-based art director, designer, and human. He works within brand systems to craft meaningful, engaging narratives.
For nearly 20 years, he’s been distilling these systems into strategic art direction and concise storytelling—often working to carve away ‘what isn’t’ in order to find ‘what is’.
He spent the past 5 years (2021-2026) at FLOYD, leading the brand design of the DTC furniture company. He worked across multiple disciplines to drive brand messaging and expanded upon their existing identity to develop a modular brand ecosystem for use across digital and physical applications.
Prior to FLOYD, he worked at a number of agencies in Michigan, California, and Oregon for commercial clients like Nike, Steelcase, Arizona Coyotes, UCLA, Merrell, and Chaco.
He began his practice designing flyers, merchandise, and album packaging for other independent musicians while touring in the early aughts. Since then, he’s worked with everyone from independent record labels to global furniture manufacturers on everything from production design to retail expressions, multichannel campaigns, and holistic rebrands.
Inspired by the principals of brutalism and aesthetics of both sports and hardcore music—his work is economical by design, it communicates with a sense of urgency and immediacy.
